We are Amber and Heather, Co-Founders of AKIN ALCHEMY. 

We are two Taurus twins working in Chicago as health care professionals. Heathers as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Amber is a Clinical Researcher who manages various human subject studies and clinical trials. 

In 2020 we were over-consumed by the amount of energy the pandemic had on our professional and personal lives. We both desperately needed an outlet that let us escape medicine and academia. We opened a small online shop that allowed us to explore ourselves creatively, challenges ourselves to think sustainably, while also giving back to our local community. 

Throughout those 3 years we found an unforeseeable love with the art of hand dyeing. Most of all, we adored the spontaneity of knowing that sometimes textiles have a way of creating magic and telling their own stories.

Our admiration for artisanal and botanical dyeing slowly started taking over, and it inspired us to make room for this new found artistry. Welcome, AKIN ALCHEMY.
